Parent’s involvement in early childhood education is very important. When parents get involved in early childhood education, kids usually perform better in school, learn to behave in a good way,feel confident and show positive attitudes toward others and grow to be the more booming candidate.
The responsibility of parents in the life of a small age child should be based on esteem, love, friendliness, care, emotional support, opportunities and above all to teach children who are able to get what they want and wish for. But for all this to be so, parents must show children that they care about everything that happens 24 hours a day, and that, of course, has to do with school. Parents should participate in the school, in the school events, maintain positive contact with the professionals of the center, speak well of them in front of the child, follow up on their activities and remarks, take review with the teachers and other teaching staff.
What is the best way for parents to get involved in early childhood education or school activities?
Attend parent’s meetings at the commencement of the school year
Meet the teachers and other school personnel. Listen to their strategy, find out what they expect to achieve with your wards, and try to understand why they chose those goals.

Trying to get as much information about the school’s activities is a great way forward.This allows you to stay in the loop and be aware of the different programs that are available for the students and how does your student fare in such activities. There can be programs of music and dance sports teams or tutoring programs, after school that could offer benefits
to your ward since the early stage of education.
Attend meetings of parent organizations
In most schools, a group of parents meets regularly to discuss the school. This group is known as PTM or PTA (Parent Teacher Meeting or Parent Teacher Association). These kinds of gatherings will offer you a good opportunity to talk with the parents of classmates in your ward and work together to make better the school. Make your expectations and concerns heard for your ward and for school at these meetings. Help the teachers to organize meetings between teachers and parents to concentrate on their own interests and those of other guardians. If you cannot attend, ask for the minutes to be mailed to you. Or ask if the school publishes the minutes on its website.
Volunteer at Smart School Junior
If your schedule allows it, look for ways to help at school. Schools often send home lists of activities to involve parents, and they often need volunteers who can:
Accompany students on field trips or dances (and if your child feels it is too embarrassing to see him on the dance floor, help sell refreshments in the hall)
Serve on councils or other committees that need parent representatives Help in projects like the school newsletter
Volunteer in your child’s class, in the library, in the cafeteria, or in the school office Prepare food for a school event.
Assist as a tutor of students in such subjects as reading, mathematics, English, Spanish, computing, or other courses.
Work in a parent resource center or help create one. In these schools, parents meet informally, borrow materials about their children’s education and homework, and obtain information about services available in the community.
If you do not have time to volunteer at the school, you can help your child learn at home. The key question is, “What can I do at home, easily in a few minutes a day, to reinforce and deepen what the school is doing?” This is the kind of participation that every family can and should provide to support their children’s school success.
Parent involvement in school will lead to positive student outcomes. Improve evaluations, improve attendance and behavior. It’s never very late to get involved with education of your child, and we do
not simply mean in school. You can also generate interest in the interest of your child like in playing,
dancing or any other kind of sports. The more you work with the educational and emotional learning behavior
of your child at residence, the more likely kids will develop a better attitude to learning and high self-
esteem through the accomplishment and learning of mistakes (which should all the time be expected as learning opportunities).
Shared work between parents, teachers, and students
Shared work has to do with the association that must exist between child-parents-school. That is, parents, teachers and the school must be in constant and fluid communication for the good of children and for their proper academic development. While it is true that academic development is important for our society, it is absolutely necessary for children to have good emotional development, without it, it will be impossible for children to feel capable. With mutual work practice, the child will see the significance of their effort and how teachers and parents look after the interests of students.
Children spend a lot of their days at school; they are almost all day in schools. Society has been composed in this way, parents go out to work every morning and children have to go to school in order to learn what is necessary for our society. Sometimes parents work more hours or at different times than the school and can barely see their children during the day, but this does not exempt them from their responsibilities as parents that go beyond dressing, feeding and sheltering children. Parents should be mentors, guides, emotional support and those who teach children about emotions and feelings; this is not learned in school.
The term ‘learning style’ refers to the fact that when we want to learn something, each of us uses their own method or set of strategies. Although the specific strategies we use vary according to what we want to learn, each one of us tends to develop global preferences. Those preferences or tendencies to use more certain ways of learning than others constitute our learning style.
Each member of the group will learn differently, have different doubts and will advance more in some areas than in others. These differences in learning are the result of many factors, such as motivation, previous cultural baggage, and age. The concept of learning styles is however attractive because it offers us great possibilities of achieving more effective learning.
Children learn in different ways. Some need to see things; others prefer to listen to instructions, while others prefer to do the activities themselves. It is particularly important to identify and adapt to the learning style of very young children, who need to have a good start in life by acquiring a lot of new knowledge. Just as important is the choice of preschool for your child, keep in mind if it supports your learning style.
The VAK Model holds that we have three systems to represent the information in our mind: Visual, Auditory and Kinesthetic. Now, learning is closely related to the way we mentally represent information, therefore, we can say that from representation systems, there are also three learning styles:
Visual Learning Style
Preschoolers who have a visual learning style prefer to see things. They understand the information faster if they are presented in visual format: written, displayed, represented or in some visualized form. The preschool of these children should offer stimulating and interesting visual walls, material and equipment for the classes. Their classrooms should be clean and organized, and teaching should be reinforced through bulletin boards, posters, and charts. It is related to the sense of sight. When they use the visual representation system, students read or construct images that represent ideas. They take notes, make drawings or diagrams that help them visualize and process a greater amount of data in a short time, so it is the ideal model to establish relationships between data and concepts. The capacity for abstraction and the ability to plan are directly related to the ability to visualize.
Auditory Learning Style
Children with an auditory learning style learn best through music, stories or instructions. Encourage these children to work in pairs or small groups instead of individually or in large groups. Teaching for this type of children should be done through group discussions, storytelling, and other oral teaching methods. It is related to the sense of hearing. The student uses the auditory system of representation when he remembers a verbal message or a sound experience, usually in a sequential and organized manner. He shows a preference for receiving oral explanations and often repeats the words or concepts he deems important. It is very effective in learning languages or speeches. Naturally, it is the most appropriate in learning everything related to music.
Kinesthetic Learning Style
The kinesthetic learning style is not as popular as the visual or the auditory one. Those who learn best in this way are interested in practical activities, such as, for example, drawing, building, or getting involved physically and actively with learning. They need to manipulate objects instead of seeing or hearing them. It is related to emotions, the senses of touch, smell and taste. When the student processes the information relating to his sensations and movements, he is using the kinesthetic representation system. In this way, you get deeper learning, but one that requires more time. The reason is very simple: it is faster to learn, through sight, that a bicycle is a vehicle with two wheels; but learning to drive it requires mobilizing all the systems of our organism.
Besides these three learning styles one more style of learning is quite popular that is tactile learning style.
The tactile learning style is similar to kinesthetic. However, those who learn best in this way prefer small-scale movements rather than large-scale ones, unlike kinesthetic. They should be taught and encouraged to write by hand and they should be given the opportunity to work with small blocks and sets to assemble and solve puzzles.
Children especially small children are fussy when it comes to their eating habits. They are picky eaters in general and therefore it is a difficult ordeal for parents to be able to make their children take a balanced diet. A balanced diet is extremely important for the healthy growth and development of children. Childhood is the foundation on which the entire life of a human being is built. Improper eating habits and lack of nutrition during the early years of life can lead to extremely complicated health issues as time progresses. And even of the situation does not get so worse, still the lack of proper diet comprising of all the essential nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, minerals, vitamins, iron, iodine etc can lead to delayed mental and physical development.,
On the contrary, if a child is able to get proper nourishment during the early years of childhood then the likeliness of the individuals growing into a healthy adult and leading a healthy life increases. It also acts as the enabler for children to perform well in all spheres of life where physical and cognitive skills may be required. As per leading child nutrition experts, it is imperative that proper nutrition is given to children especially during their early years, as any kind of damage caused by lack of nutritious diet becomes extremely hard to undo post two years of age.
Effects of Nutrition on Child Development
The affect that nutrition has on the development of a child is manifold:
1. Intellectual Development: Children that have access to a well balanced nutritious diet are exposed to nutrients that are essential for the growth of brain cells. There are different nutrients required at different times of the development of the brain and as such a well balanced diet provides the necessary fuel to keep the development going. A healthy brain os able to grasp new things easily and therefore young kids who receive a healthy diet are able to perform better at tasks requiring cognitive skills.
2. Behavioral and Emotional Development: various studies have showcased that the lack of proper nutrition in small kids results in adverse behavioral and emotional patterns. Children who are subjected to unhealthy eating habits resulting in an unhealthy diet are more likely to develop unhealthy and negative behavioral patterns such as mood swings causing the child to be tired and depressed even and may even be cranky. This is due to the lack of complex carbohydrates and iron. Another adverse effect of malnutrition is development of disorders such as ADHD. Various experts suggest that a balanced and healthy diet could be beneficial in reducing the symptoms of ADHD. Consequently, a variety of diet based programs to counter ADHD symptoms are being used widely.
3. Physical Development: This is the most obvious and self evident aspect of nutrition and its effects on children. A healthy mind can reside only in a healthy body, and in order to obtain and maintain a healthy body a well balanced diet comprising of essential nutrients is imperative. Nutritious diet is necessary in order to have a strong bones and muscles. It also helps in developing the immune system of the body that protects it from diseases.
Nutritional Requirements at Various Stages of a Child’s Life
1. Infants: At this stage of child’s life breast milk is like an Elixir. It has all the essential nutrients that are required for the strengthening and growth of the baby. Breast Milk can also be supplemented with Formula which aids in filling in for the nutritional gaps in breast milk. A combination of breast milk and formula is more the sufficient for the bay till the baby is about six months old.
Once the child has reached the age of six months, solid foods need to be introduced into the diet of the child. These solid foods include infant cereals which are rich in Iron, pureed meat as well as strained vegetables and fruits.
2. Toddlers, Preschoolers and Grade-schoolers: At this age the child starts walking and is involved with a lot of running around and a plethora of physical activities such as playing around. This requires a lot of physical efforts and to sustain this amount of physical strain, a healthy diet is necessary. As the body starts to grow and the bones began to bear the weight of the body, introducing Calcium into the diet is very important. Calcium is concrete of the bones. It is vital for the development and growth of strong bones and teeth. In sufficient intake of Calcium can result in fragile and brittle bones which may cause discomfort for a lifetime. In order to incorporate sufficient Calcium in the child’s diet milk is the most common and efficient source. It is naturally rich in Calcium and is easily available. There are also options and alternatives to milk for people who have an intolerance to milk such as cereals, oatmeal, waffles, orange juice, tofu, soy milk and sardines.
Another important nutrient for toddlers is Fiber. Fiber is very good for digestion by marinating optimum bowl health and helps in preventing constipation. Also, Fiber is very effective in averting obesity and preventing heart diseases. Kids can obtain high fiber in their diet by consuming high quantities of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, whole wheat, rye, barley etc.
3. Teenagers:
At this stage of a child’s life, heavy physical as well as mental activities become a part of life. From getting into sports to taking part in academic and related extracurricular activities, all of these aspects of life require a healthy lifestyle to sustain. For the physical side of life, protein an calcium rich diet is recommended because in order for the body to withstand the physical strain, protein and calcium is required which aids in developing and strengthening the muscles and bones respectively. Another nutrient that is required is calories which are the fuel for the body. As per studies, the healthy amount of calories per day for male and female teenagers is 2,000-2,400 and 1,800 calories respectively.
